ABT’s Youth STEM Programs

80% of students make a conscious decision by 8th grade whether they think they are good at math and science; but it’s important to note this decision is based on their perceptions of math and science and not their own ability.

Summer Programs: July 8- August 2, 2024

STEM is Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The acronym came from the emerging trends and importance of these fields in the 21st Century.

Many employers including A Blake Tech actively search for individuals qualified to join their successful organizations or start ones like Google, Lego, and Samsung. The average salary of a graduate in STEM is over $67,000.*

In 2017 A Blake Tech was proud to partner with Aviator Sports and Events Center which was once the home of NYC’s 1st municipal airport. In 2024 we launched near metropolitan Atlanta, GA in Douglasville! ABT is currently featured in My Time Out, an indoor playground.

Why start a youth STEM program in the inner city?

Abandoned blocks, mold and devastating memories plagued some residents in Far Rockaway even 4 years after Hurricane Sandy. Issues that our community was facing were exacerbated by the natural disaster. The storm did not stop my drive to start my own business called A Blake Tech which was previously Web Design by A Blake Tech. At A Blake Tech we perform Computer Repair, Website Development and Educational Workshops. In the process of adding to my team, I found it hard to find local talent. I researched to see if there were any technology programs that had youth within them that can be Interns in the summer.

However, I was shocked to see that the Southern Brooklyn/ Queens Area did not have any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs outside of the school curriculum. As a Zumba Instructor, I began to meet the awesome children in my neighborhood. Furthermore I fostered an appreciation for nurturing my community instead of fleeing it. I then merged the concerns for the lack of qualified youth in my area and my Educational Workshop tutorials from Web Design by A Blake Tech together to launch the Youth STEM Enrichment Program.

The program would be based on a theme. The theme would be examined with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. More specifically the program’s theme would be explored via Scientific Method to draw conclusions as scientists, Technology will aid in collection of data and investigation, Math will provide the tools to use data and reveal relationships, Engineering allows Young Creators to combine Science, Math and Technology to create complex projects like robots, 3D printed inventions. Program themes include Virtual Reality, 3D printing, Rockets, App Development and Robotics.
